Dear all African people, friends, and colleagues,
Like every year, on May 25 we are marking the Africa Day. We would like to add our warmest congratulations to the many ones that you have already received on the occasion of Africa Day 2018 – the 55th anniversary of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity.
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Pavlo Klimkin in his congratulation letter to Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. Mr. Faki Moussa Mahamat, on the occasion of the Africa Day Celebration, noted that “Every year Africa continues to make steady economic, social and political progress… and has recently achieved the two important goals - establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area and Single African Air Transport Market”.
As the Embassy, located in Addis Ababa, which hosts Headquarters of the African Union, we see how widely all African countries are celebrated this day, which means Africa’s identity and unity.
Despite the fact that Ukraine is located far away from African shores, our common interests and values are much closer than it may look. In Ukraine, we are aware that the main principles which envisage the Constitutive Act of the African Union, consist of, in particular, sovereign equality and interdependence, peaceful resolution of conflicts, prohibition of the use of force or threat to use force, non-interference in the internal affairs of another state.
We sincerely wish all African people every success in efforts to ensure a brighter future for Africa as well as in achieving great results in other Africa’s development goals in the context of African Union’s Agenda 2063.
