Ethiopia is one of the biggest trade partners of Ukraine in Africa.
According to the State Statistics Agency of Ukraine goods and services volume between Ukraine and Ethiopia (as for December 31, 2021) reached USD 285,710,000. In 2021 Ukrainian export – USD 278,450,000, import – USD 7,260,000. Positive balance for Ukraine – USD 271,190,000. In January 2022 Ukrainian export – USD 17,296,000, import – USD 1,495,000. Positive balance for Ukraine – USD 15,801,000. The main commodity goods of Ukrainian export: grain, flour and its products, meat or fat and vegetable oil, textile goods, ferrous metals, aluminum, and its products. The main commodity goods of Ukrainian import: tea and coffee, seeds, and fruit oilseeds, knitted and crocheted clothing, flowers.

Ukraine is interested in intensifying of economic ties and is ready to diversify the structure of Ukrainian trade with Ethiopia, especially the cooperation in energy, agriculture, construction of pipelines, the supply of construction equipment and technology in the field of railway and urban transport, etc.
In particular, in the agro-industrial sector, Ukraine has great potential to meet the needs of agriculture, food processing and recycling industry of Ethiopia, as well as in the training of qualified personnel.
Ukraine has the potential to implement mutually beneficial projects in high-tech sectors, particularly in those industries in which our country has a leading position in the world, for instance - aircraft building and space engineering, military cooperation, heavy machinery.
