On November 4th, 2018, Ukrainian community in AddisAbaba joined campaign “Light a Candle of Memory” dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Holodomor famine in Ukraine.
The event, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor, was held at the St. Frumentius Orthodox Greek Church. During the liturgy, the Reverend Father Christosimus Barberis read the prayer for all who died during 1932-1933. After the liturgy, community lit a candle of memory and commemorated the victims of this tragedy and got information brochures about Holodomor times - the most terrible crime of the communist regime.
Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine Mykhailo Kyrychenko in his speech to the Ukrainian community stressed the terrible extent of the Holodomor that took place in Ukraine. "We must always remember and celebrate the history of our people," said Charge d'Affaires, Mykhailo Kirichenko.
